On Valentine’s Day people send tokens of love to special people in their lives, but some people tend to forget to show themselves some love. This is especially true for family caregivers.
Family caregivers are often so busy caring for others that they overlook their own physical and emotional health. According to Statistics Canada, 28 percent of family caregivers found providing care somewhat or very stressful and 19 percent of family caregivers indicated that their physical and emotional health suffered in the last 12 months as a result of their caregiving responsibilities. Furthermore, 55 percent of family caregivers felt worried or anxious as a result of their caregiving duties. They also reported high levels of fatigue, irritability, poor sleep and feeling overwhelmed.
